Homowack Hotel

Since I now live out west, I haven't had occasion to visit the catskills for over 15 years, until this summer when one of my children was in overnight camp, we and another couple decided to make a mini vacation out of visiting day, I had once been at the Homowack and remembered it was Ok, and the food very good so I convinced the others to go, I also read the ads about their famous Shabbos Nachamu entertainment weekends. So I was looking forward to a nice enjoyable,Shabbat with some good food.
What a colossal mistake!
It was pretty expensive, even the regular rooms, the food was utter utter garbage, nothing good, the white fish Friday night was frozen and it went downhill from there. they have this crazy custom of serving Cholent Friday night @ midnight!
Some of the desserts were edible everything else wasn't.
The guest speakers were the old stand bys who come around and give their spiel for a free Shabbat stay, no decent entertainment etc etc you get the idea.
It seems that the old family Davidman sold out and the buyers really do things on the cheap.
I would highly NOT recommend the Homowack. It smells like a Nursing Home!
