Homemade waffles stick; Bisquick doesn't?

katydid13 | Dec 29, 2007 07:10 AM

I've got a great, brand-new nonstick waffle iron (Black & Decker), and I've made Bisquick waffles without a problem several times. Yesterday, I tried making waffles from scratch for the first time, and they stuck to the iron HIDEOUSLY from the get-go. I'm trying to figure out why, as I didn't do anything different in terms of prepping the iron (i.e., it was well-oiled). The waffle wasn't burned, either; it was nicely golden. The only slightly odd ingredient in the recipe was yeast; the recipe calls for mixing most of the ingredients the night before & letting it rise in the fridge over night. Aside from the yeast, it was flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking soda -- standard stuff. Has anyone experienced a similar thing? Any advice?
