Homemade drinkable yogurt?

SmallGoodThings | May 4, 201711:29 AM     6

Does anyone make thin, drinkable yogurt (or kefir that tastes like yogurt) at home? Any tips?

My family has developed a rather expensive drinking-yogurt habit. Everyone has gone off milk, and we're going through at least four quarts of Lifeway kefir (or Siggi's plain filmjolk) each week. I'd like to try to make it instead, since I think we'd save a ton and I'd rather use organic milk, but I'd need it to come very close to the flavor and texture of the store-bought sort. I've read a bit about using kefir grains to make milk kefir, but everything I've read indicates that homemade kefir tastes very different than store-bought kefir. I've also tried using a filmjolk starter from Cultures for Health to make thin yogurt at home, but I haven't had much luck. I'd be grateful for any advice!
