Home Made Mexican in Overland Park, KS

I was running errands yesterday and passed a sign that said "Home made Mexican Food". I did miss a couple of other cars while making my U turn. Its at 87th and Farly, the place formerly occupied by El Grande Buffet. (Never eat at El Grande Buffet) The name of the place is Tarahumara. I walked in and the smell of chlorine hit me in the face. Wow, but hey the place is immaculate. Menu items include: Tamales, (available to go by the dozen) Chile Rellenos, Costillas (ribs broiled in red and green chile sauce,) Chicken Mole, Tortas, etc.

I had the 2 diced pork and potato in chile verde burritos, rice and beans platter. Not a shred of cheese on the plate. The complete antithises of Margarita's. The burritos were smaller than normal and rolled more like an enchilada with the ends open, not folded. Pork was diced small and was tender and flavorful, green chile/tomatillo sauce was mild. Rice was well seasoned and I like it alot. Beans were creamy and also very good. All this and an iced tea for 8.50.

Pretty good stuff, and friendly service too. I'll be back to check out the Mole. They also serve breakfast. And they hand end of the week specials of Menudo, Albondigas and more. The price is right and definately worth checking out.
