It’s getting chilly around here! November is approaching. It's time to think about what we'll be cooking together next month.
During October we've been making Vegetable Fritters/Croquettes. If you are just finding the Dish of the Month, you’re welcome to fritter away your time with us, so do take a look at the October thread here:
Now it’s time for everyone to join in and name a dish that we can all cook in November. Please read the starred guidelines below about what makes a dish, and what dishes we’ve already done.
Please type your nomination in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. You may nominate as many dishes as you like. As usual, I urge everyone to push their own envelopes, think of something you’ve always wanted to learn how to cook, something that will help you master a new technique, get acquainted with a new ingredient, or learn about a new cuisine.
Nominations will be open until October 25th at 6pm Pacific time (9pm Eastern time, and 1am October 26th GMT). After nominations close we'll move on to voting. In the voting round, everyone only gets one vote, for one dish.
If you have yet to participate in the Dish of the Month, or if you've been reading the threads and never posted on Chowhound, now is the time to join in! It's a lot of fun, and everyone has something interesting to share.
**What Makes a Dish** A dish is loosely defined as an ingredient and a method of preparation. So while chocolate is not a dish, chocolate mousse is a dish. It doesn’t have to be terribly specific, you don’t have to say “tomatoes chopped and simmered over low heat then puréed and poured into a bowl,” you can just nominate “tomato soup.” For some dishes, both the ingredients and the technique are implied, such as cassoulet or jambalaya.
**Prior DOTM Dishes**
DOTM has been going strong for over four years now, and we have covered 53 different dishes! You can view the index of dishes here, and you are invited to make any of these dishes, and contribute to these threads at any time.
