Home Cooking Dish of the Month - May 2019 Nominations

It is April, and where I am, we've definitely been having April showers. Or more accurately, thunderstorms. I'm looking forward to less drama in the weather department in May. And what will be on the cooking agenda? Now is the time to talk about our May Dish of the Month, and get the nominations rolling. If you are new to the DOTM threads, I invite you to check out our thread on the current month's selection, pupusas.

Please review the starred guidelines below about what makes a dish, and what dishes we’ve already done. Remember to type your nomination in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. You may nominate as many dishes as you like. As usual, push your own envelope, think of something you’ve always wanted to learn how to cook, something that will help you master a new technique, get acquainted with a new ingredient, or learn about a new cuisine.
Nominations will be open until Friday, April 26, at 10am EDT / 7am PST / 3pm BST. Due to the relatively short turn-around time, you are encouraged to get your nominations in early! After nominations close, we'll move on to voting. In the voting round, everyone only gets one vote, for one dish.

**What Makes a Dish**

A dish is loosely defined as an ingredient and a method of preparation. So while chocolate is not a dish, chocolate mousse is a dish. It doesn’t have to be terribly specific, you don’t have to say “tomatoes chopped and simmered over low heat then puréed and poured into a bowl,” you can just nominate “tomato soup.” For some dishes, both the ingredients and the technique are implied, such as cassoulet or jambalaya.
