Random tips:

Cafe Rouge will have suet and house-rendered suet starting Thursday. Call ahead to order, (510) 525-2707.

Tacubaya next door has fresh house-rendered lard in the refrigerator case.

Williams-Sonoma no longer sells Pernigotti cocoa, but it's available by mail-order from, $19 for a 1-kg. bag.

Berkeley Bowl has marzipan in bulk, in the refrigerator by the bulk-goods weigh-and-label counter.

Spanish Table has raw Marcona almonds.

For pumpkin pie, I recommend Full Belly's butternut squash. Available at the Tuesday Berkeley farmers market.
