Hole in the wall restaurant on Bayou near New Orleans/Slidell

New Orleans Memorable Views Hole in the Wall

I'm looking for a restaurant that either has views of the Bayou or is on the Bayou near New Orleans or Slidell, LA. Not anywhere like Palmettos on the Bayou - something authentic that probably doesn't have a website. Doesn't need to be fancy at all - just on the Bayou with really good food.

Interesting, all this time in this area and even living on the Northshore for 22 years and I'd never heard of Palmettos.

A hole in the wall with no website doesn't normally go with "good" food. They end up being family fried seafood places. Now they may have good fried seafood so it depends on your definition of good food.
I can't think of any place that really fits.

There is Restaurant Des Familles in Crown Point, which is not a hole in the wall. Boutte's Bayou in Lafitte. Spahr's in Des Allemands. Chimes in Covington. They all have good food and are on the water.

I've never actually eaten at http://www.kenneyseafood.com/index.php , but have stopped by many times on my way home to South Florida from my dad's place in northern Mississippi to pick up crawfish for me and Dogboa (another member). I can say their crawfish are good size and relatively clean, with an extremely, extremely low "dead count" even though I stop in a hotel for the night since it's too long of a drive for just me to drive straight through. So, it's usually at least 2 days before they get cooked after they go in the coolers. I've brought home anywhere between 40 and 80 pounds at a time. They always have people in there eating and they certainly do a booming business of take-out cooked crawfish and shrimp. I've been there when there are actually lines, even with several guys working behind the counter. I usually get there mid to late afternoon depending on when I leave my dad's. Definitely no view though. It's what I would consider a dive, but seems to be clean, certainly no fishy smell even though they do sell and serve quite a few kinds of fish besides the shrimp and crawfish. I just wished they shipped live crawfish, which they don't unfortunately.
