My company is hosting a conference at the Stonegate Conference Center in September, and I am coming in from Wisconsin to work at the registration/info desk. I expect that conference attendees will stop by our desk looking for restaurant recommendations. I would like to be prepared and have a list of good local suggestions within 15-20 minutes driving time from the center, which is on Higgins just off of Barrington Road. I have a decent basic knowledge of the area's geography and major roads (I could navigate someone to Woodfield Mall or O'Hare), but other than Woodfield I don't know very much about the local amenities. I did a search on Chowhound and the last Hoffman Estates post was a year ago; so, I would like to err on the side of caution and ask my fellow Hounds for more current information.
About our conference attendees: they are coming in from a three-state area, and they will skew about 75 percent male/25 percent female. Age also will skew older, as we are marketing this conference more toward executive and management level staff; so, not many 20-somethings looking for nightlife. Good food on a reasonable expense account. Also, I'd like to have suggestions for a variety of cuisines. I sound like I've described the stereotypical businessman looking for steak, but I know these folks have a wide range of tastes. (Given the heavy schedule of the conference, I doubt that many will want to go in to Chicago for dinner.)
I appreciate any help you can give our attendees, my fellow registration desk staff and me. Thank you in advance!
