Are Hobart mixers still top quality? Or are vintage ones better?

Good morning Chowhound
I have never had the pleasure of using a Hobart mixer but to my understanding, vintage models will last forever even with daily use. Old KitchenAids are often praised similarly and my mom has used hers for 40 years strong. Is that still the case with newer Hobart models? Are they still constructed to last a lifetime? I am aware a new KA these days is widely considered a poor investment because they give out after just a few years. If you bought a new Hobart mixer, would you expect it to last forever or is something like 10 years more realistic? Or even less? (which is not very many at all, IMO)
Seems like you can get a pre-owned 5Qt Hobart (newer models as well as vintage models) for $500 on a good day. Is that a better buy than a new KA(~$450), or even a new Hobart (~$2400!)?

Best wishes
