Hiro's Yakko-San or Michael's Genuine?

Chirene | May 22, 2011 04:46 PM

My first Chowhound post, although I've been reading and appreciating these boards for years.

We'll be in Miami for one night (a Saturday) and as of now I have a reservation at Michael's Genuine. After reading more reviews, I'm now tempted to cancel that and take my family of four (2 children in their 20's) to Yakko-San instead. We are big fans of good Japanese food and the prices are very appealing.

I realize they are two very different types of restaurants, but I thought I'd ask for recent opinions comparing the general, overall experience, and if there are strong feelings about choosing one over the other with only one night in Miami.

Also, just saw on the site for Joe's Stone Crab that the take-away is closed for the season. Bummer, because I was hoping to pick some up to have a nice beach lunch.

Thanks for any input.
