For National Pizza Day last week, I made my way to Hippizzazz (pronounced hippy-zzas) to try a slice. It opened in Sebastopol a couple months ago. Staying open until midnight during the week and 2am on Friday and Saturday, it fills a much needed late night eats void.
Testing the waters with a regular cheese slice, $3.50, I liked the garlicky, jammy red sauce a lot. The slice was barely warm, so the cheese was not entirely re-melted. The thin crust needed more crispness and chew for my slice druthers.
Still, if I needed a bite to eat late at night, I'd be happy to drop in here. And it earns extra points for serving a slice on a non-disposable plate and providing a black cloth napkin. It's worth mentioning that the menu includes deep dish pizza, calzones, and stromboli. The staff are friendly as can be. And judging from the banter with the other customers, Hippizzazz already has an in-crowd of regulars.
