During last month's Sonoma County Restaurant Week, I checked out Hip Chick Farms The Kitchen Chicken Nugget Restaurant for the $10 brunch offering.
You order and pay at the counter, then the food is delivered to your table. The Kitchen was doing a brisk take-out business.
To supplement my brunch order, I tried one of the slushies. The tropical one was quite good, made with real tropical fruits and just enough sugar to highlight the flavors.
The garden salad included with the brunch was impressive. A whole dinner plateful topped with half a ripe avocado. Very fresh and the creamy herb dressing served on the side was delectable.
The homemade buttermilk waffle was great, crispy on the outside and tender within, and brushed generously with melted butter. I was not so taken with the chicken fingers, the signature item at this eatery, finding them too dry and bland even after dipped in the maple syrup. The coating was light and crunchy, so perhaps I'll try the fried chicken on the menu some day, and maybe I'll find that more to my liking.
For those who keep chickens at home, a selection of feeds is displayed for sale.
