Yamakage 1026E 2nd Ave is located between 53rd St. and 54th St.
The chef and owner does much of the food preparations. The raw fish, whether over rice in sushi form or sliced as sashami, is some of the freshest I have had in Manhattan.
The atmosphere is very comfortable, and classic jazz music plays in the background.
They had O Toro the day I visited and it was incredible and good.
The cuts for the sashimi and for their size excellent, and will not leave one other than satisfied.
The hour they open are from 11 am to about 2 or 3 pm, and they open for dinner about 5:30 and stay open until around 11 pm.
For sushi and sashimi in NYC, Yamakage is on the very top of the list.
