Highland Avenue Cuisine - Haitian in Somerville

Went early on Saturday evening to Highland Avenue Cuisine in East Somerville (nearish to Union Square). The place was pretty crowded with diners and people waiting for take-out orders. I had the fried chicken (small order, which was 2 pieces), my friend had the chicken with sauce, which was really just fried chicken covered in a tomato based sauce. (he got large order, 3 pieces).

Both came with rice and beans, fried plantains, spicy slaw. The fried chicken was very good, freshly made, chicken fell off the bone. We also each had a strawberry juice (they have them, and a few other flavors, with or without milk, we had without), quite big, not a bad deal. Cold and delicious, maybe SLIGHTLY too sweet.

19 dollars or so for total bill before tip, and more than enough food for 2. I saw a nice looking fried fish on another table (I couldn't tell what kind). There are also goat and other meat dishes available.

Highland Avenue Cuisine
2-4 Highland Av. (right near the intersection with Medford St. and McGrath Highway)
