I ususally post on the France board, but in about 2 months I will be coming to NYC for a few days. I have enjoyed high end sushi places in many cities but never in NYC. One meal would be Omakase at a sushi bar, and the other formal kaiseki. After a rather thorough search of this board I have come up with a few choices.
For Omakase: Yasuda, Jewel Bako
For Kaiseki: Sugiyama, Kai
I plan on spending about 150$ per meal without drinks and enjoy perfet ingredients more tha fusion/modern creativity. I would like to know a few things: are these restaurants still good and the best in their category? Which one is the more reliable/consistent in its category (I'll only get one visit)? What are the main differences between the two within a category?
