Higgins Review and Thanks

Thanks for all the advice. We went to Higgins and what can I say? While it has higher aspirations than Wildwood or Heathman, its reach often exceeds its grasp. On the positive, the service, ambience and bread were great. The cured salmon appetiser was superb (the gribiche resembled runny egg salad tho) and the razor clams with a delicious onion-saffron jam was great. The cheese plate had heaps of wonderful fruit and nuts along with the cheese. The negatives, the wine list had almost no half bottles and the choices for glasses was mediocre. The warm custard with morels was great when it was warm. Pockets were cold and it was runny on top - it had been poorly microwaved. The grilled salmon was merely OK, and the tepid congealed pesto polenta was inedible. To be honest, I prefer places like this on expense account when I can be indulgent about the misses.

I hope to get to the Pancake House soon.
