GOT Sub, Hero, Wedge, Hoagie, Grinder, Italian Sandwich, Po'Boy, Torpedo, Zepplin?

I request recommendations for a place to buy a good Sub, Hero, Wedge, Hoagie, Grinder, Italian Sandwich, Po'Boy, Torpedo, Zepplin. I think you know what I am talking about. Good food inside of good Itallian bread that is worth a drive. A drive? I realized I was a Chowhound one night when I drove from Hershey PA. To New York City via Atlantic City N.J. to try a sub at White House Subs. The only gamble I took that night was the drive hoping to arrive before they closed. I had 18 min. to spare and it paid off big time. I say this only to demonstrate that the whole area covered by this L.A. Chowhound Board is not to big to be considered a “drive.” So please, if you have several places in mind from Ventura to San Clemente with a quick stop in Palmdale that would be much appreciated. Also, in your opinion how far would you drive to eat at the place you have in mind? Finally, I know sometimes not everyone would agree that the parts of a particular sandwich (bread, meat, dressing) might not be the best available but somehow when it all comes together you like it. In that case please risk the reaction from others and say what you like about the final product.

Here is a list of some places I have tried and would be willing to drive 50 miles (or one hour) to eat again.

Thanks in advance for any help.
