I'm a frequent visitor to this board, but an infrequent poster. Last night, wife & I tried new restaurant in N. Liberties, Heritage. Only their 2nd night open, still in soft opening mode. Nice looking place; good beer list; pretty interesting menu. For just opening, the food (at least what we ordered) was really good. We had grilled broccoli rabe (nice smokey flavor, but not overpowering); braised kale with sprouted grains; grilled squid with paddlefish roe, potatoes and dehydrated olives (really good dish, though portion size could have been larger); and roasted 1/2 chicken with dumplings (more like gnocchi) and roasted romanesco cauliflower & heirloom carrots. Chicken was done just right, flavorful. I think how a kitchen does on something basic like chicken tells a lot.
All in all, if they can keep this up when they start getting busy, they should do well. Got to say, I was impressed.
