If any of you chowhounds were fortunate enough to have a Herb's meatball sandwich at Herb's deli on Taraval on a Thursday, then let me know. After Herb's deli closed, I heard a rumor that someone had taken the recipe and is using it. I'm desparately trying to find it or a suitable alternative.
Here's a discription of the sandwich if you are unsure. Extra Large meatballs soaking for days, approx. 4" in diameter, cut into slices (like meatloaf), then topped with just cheese (provolone prefered) on a sandwich loaf and wrapped in paper towels.
