After being put off by reports of high pretentiousness, we finally tried this place today, for lunch. The pretentiousness was not as elevated as reported--due to the time of day?--and the service was sporadic and weird (bread and butter came, but there was nothing to put the bread on: Bread plates? You want bread plates?). But the food was quite good (grilled salmon on a bed of arugala, grilled swordfish sandwich with wilted greens, hand-cut fries), and for $8-10 you can get an interesting salad or sandwich, and maybe some homemade soup for a few bucks more. The big menu also includes burgers and meat and pasta, etc. Really good coffee.
It's hard to get a meal like this in the area. The place could come in handy.
Henry Clark's is on Washington Ave, just off Manville Road, across from the bookstore and down the street from the Rome Theater (the art house that will be opening next year).
