We had the most delicious Strawberry shortcake at a wedding at the Whitby Castle in Rye last weekend. It was moist and so delicious, the strawberries must have been fresh and made with real whipped cream.
Our daughter is having her sweet sixteen and wanted to order one for her. We called the castle to ask if we could order one and they said that we would have to throw the party there. We considered it until they told us it would cost us thousands of dollars.
We then asked them if they could tell us where they got it from--they rudely told us they do not reveal their vendors for privacy reasons.
I imagine it must be a bakery nearby in Westchester -- yet we cannot figure out where it came from. We tried the Austrian bakery in nearby Rye, but it wasn't from there. Perhaps somewhere in Larchmont?
It could have very well come from the city, but I'm willing to bet some chowhound out there can sniff where this delicious confection comes from or where we can find something similiar, if not better!
