Just returned from a gastronomically delightful three days in Manhattan. We dined first at Casa Mono for lunch and loved it! Enjoyed sipping Cava while trying many many tapas. Dinner was at the Blue RIbbon where we always go when we are in town...Lots of oysters and clams raw and baked....and vino..love the place and the fact that it's open until 4:00 am for dining. Next day we had lunch at the Aquagrill and I had a wonderful french Mussel soup and Barramundi for my main...dinner was at 71 Clinton...we did the tasting menu..half of which we loved and the other half was just OK...although the sommelier did an excellent job pairing the wines...next time I'll go across the street and see what Wylie is up to these days....On my Birthday we had lunch at Bouley which was incredible...decor, service and food spectacular with many many complimentary treats from the start to finish..and even a lemon pound cake to take home!!!! Well worth the money and I will definitely be back on another special occasion...dinner was at Alta with friends and that was the best...we ate and ate and drank....loved everything... fresh grey shrimp deep fried...tiny smelts deep fried ...baby octopus...the list goes on..the chef was great....and most of all it was incredibly reasonable...we went to the same spot years ago when it was El Ray...this was much better and the decor was warm and inviting...Checked out a few bars...PS450. Mercury. and Banc ....liked them all...so thanks again...and when we come back in July we will be back on board...Ciao or should I say Chow.
