Helado de Coco, Bruno, guy down street from bruno, logan square, mexican ice, coconut ice

Ligament | Jul 1, 200310:04 PM

hey guys,

my woman and I visited brunos helado de coco stand the other day. wonderful stuff. exactly as richard described in one of this previous posts.

however, there was a cat selling helado de coco right in front of the front door of mcdonald's which is down the street from bruno south east of his corner. this ice was really excellent, and even better on the day we had it than brunos.

I think the ambient temp makes a big difference. The day we had the mcdonald's guy's helado it was really hot out, and the ice had melted and condenced some, leading to a more intense creamy flavor.

We visited brunos on a cooler day, got the stuff from the TOP of his container, so it was very fresh. therefore it was less melted, less condensed, and since it was a top scoop much more airy and fluffy, just like snow.

both excellent, I guess its up to your preference. We think we detected a hint of cinammon in the mcdonald's dudes ice but I cannot be sure of this...

Bruno was a nice guy! give him a tip.

all the best, Jason
