Hee Been returns

THis is a great resource; too bad these forums don't have a search feature. Without search, it is very stream of collective consciousness. Forgive me, if this is old news...

I had to make a U-turn in the strip mall off Little River Turnpike and 395 and noticed that Hee Been had reopened. Hee Been was a competent Korean and sushi restaurant with a wonderful panchan (appetizer) assortment. Then they closed down for a long, long time to remodel.

I made a note to return later, and today I went for the lunch buffet. Holy cow! Hee Been kicked it up three notches. It expanded into the store next door and probably the one next to that one too. Now it is a very swank bar and lounge.

The lunch buffet is tremendous! The offerings make any the breadth of any other lunch buffet in the area seem lilliputian. It has five or six times the dishes you might expect from an area lunch buffet. It is like Il Mee times two. I don't have describe the whole menu. I"ll give you a small example: they offer seaweed soup, miso soup, pumpkin porridge and mixed grain rice. And the offer self-grill kalbi, bulgolki, etc. (The mixed grain rice reminds of the really expensive and tasty low carb stuff that is imported into California from France, don't know the name.)

The buffet doesn't offer much in the way of dessert, just orange wedges and the Korean cinnamon drink; no sushi either.

$14.65 (w/tax)

The waitress told me they reopened on Independence Day, 2005.

Welcome back.
