I was over at Grand Mart on Duke St/Little River Turnpike this morning getting veggies, and saw a sign in Hee Been's window: "Grand Re-opening Wednesday July 7th. Staff Training in Progress."
For those who haven't been by, the paper is off the windows, and there is a bi-level dining room inside, with private rooms, tables with exhaust hoods, and a buffet-style setup in the middle. Their new spiffy sign reads Hee Been, then beneath that it says Sushi-Lounge-Buffet (I think that's the order). I anticipate this being a buffet restaurant along the lines of Il Mee Buffet.
(insert country song about how the old one was better)In a way, this is disappointing, just because I've always thought the table-service restaurants such as the old Hee Been and Han Sung Oak were more accessible to newbies than the Il Mee Buffet. Hopefully they will keep up the variety of the panchan that the old Hee Been was known for. (/insert country song about how the old one was better)
This won't keep me from being there soon after they reopen. Now I won't have to drive cross-county to get my international market and my Korean food on in the same place.
