omnipresent in nearly every deli and bodega in new york city now, the same display of vegetarian sandwiches, macro dumplings and other healthy goodies has been around for a long time. I picked up their vegetarian chicken sandwich not once but twice this weekend, both as quick fixes when hunger struck. the saranwrap-packaged sandwiches, wraps and pitas are $3 to $4 and this sandwich was amazing, but only for one crazy ingredient: an entire leaf of raw napa cabbage. between two slices of bread along with some eggless "mayonnaise" and two slices of veg chicken, the sweetness, fillingness and freshness of the cabbage was so good. one leaf, folded over maybe 3 or 4 times and stuffed into the sandwich, look for the biggest one as it should have the largest piece of cabbage. I'm definitely stealing that trick next time I make a sandwich, and really hit the spot.
