I went to the 528 café for the 1st time a few weeks ago...3 moms, 3 kids...it was OK...we had chips & salsa & guacamole to share and it was very tasty but then my friend ordered a fajita dish for lunch and it was weird because the nice fresh salsa we got to start was not the same salsa that came with her lunch, it was all mush & bland. when mentioned to the server, the server played dumb/didn't know what my friend was talking about. I got the fish tacos that were fried and kinda tasteless, other friend got a salad...just OK. the 3 kids were happy with their pasta and burgers though!
I don't need to return, especially with HAVEN café & bakery so close by. I have been there several times to get the (perfect) tuna sandwich and side salad to go, I have never eaten there until today. my mom and I went for lunch and each got the haven burger (blue cheese, carmelized onion, mushrooms) $15 and it came with French fries AND side salad. burger was delicious, very juicy. fries were tasty and their greens with simple dressing is great. both mom & I left stuffed. they have wonderful sweets there in the display case, I have gotten the Himalayan salt toffee brownie a couple times, to die for.
now for the old fiori space, new MARIOS Italian restaurant on railroad street...I don't think its open yet, but very close...cant wait to try.
also, the building across the street from bell & anchor/prairie whale is really coming along, it looks great. lets see what restaurant they put there.
march 15 - café adam....cannot wait...I will report bk!
