Harini lunch report

Tried Harini Indian in Mercer Mall lunch buffet with good results. My dining partner had time constraints so I did not enforce my "4th inning buffet rule" --(ie, at baseball games the previous days hot dogs are recycled and the fresh ones make it out after the 4th inning) we arrived promptly at 11:30 instead of my usual 12:30 buffet arrival times.

The server was bringing out the dishes one by one and they looked fresh, not a recycling experiment. This place is about food and eating and not sport dining with mirrors and ambiance. The buffet is not a huge spread, but you will not be underwhelmed, as there is a good balance of traditional/veg/ meat/ curry/ 1 bland thing for your non-adventurous friends., etc. The flavors were great, the yogurt sauce had a freshness I was not expecting and the veg coconut dish (peas with something else..) had a phenomenal coconut flavor. I bake and cook a lot and can tell when old things are "freshened up". Not here. I believe the owners took pride in what they were doing and wanted people to be happy with what they were eating. The complimentary chai was delish and self-serve with demitasse styrofoam cups to limit waste.

Only odd quirk: I used a coupon that made by buffet 5 instead of 8.99 (pricey) and the server told me "cash only" because of the coupon I think. No problem. If it were 6.99 I'd go once every week or two, at 8.99 only once a month. Give it a try!!
