Back in the 90s, I worked for five years in the Loop. One of my guilty pleasures at lunch was to walk over to the Gold Coast Dogs on Wabash for an order of Cheese Fries. I loved the gloppy cheddar cheese they poured generously over the fries.
I am working downtown at a client for a few weeks. Last night I had some time to kill at Union Station and wandered over to the Gold Cost Dogs in the food area and ordered up some Cheese Fries. WHAT HAPPENED?
The fries were soggy and limp and the cheese is now a prossesed velveeta-like substance.
Can anyone tell me:
--When did they change the cheese???
--Are the other GCD locations still good, or is the Union Station restaurant indicative of all their locations?
--Where (in downtown Chicago or anywhere near Joliet) can I get cheese fries with real cheese?
