I was looking in my spice cupboard and came across some very dried up vanilla beans ina jar that I had forgotten about. Stuff does get shoved to the back and hidden. Anyway at the expense of the things I was not going to pitch them out without trying to reconstitute them first. I put them in a pint sized zip lock freezer bag with 1/2 tsp. of water. They are perfectly supple and smell heavenly. I think I will store even fresh new vanilla beans that way.
