Happy Pizza - Phnom Phen, Cambodia

BigLizard | Jun 19, 200212:30 AM

Yes, you really can order marijuana on your pizza in Cambodia. It's used as a 'traditional' cooking herb by the khmers (Ye olde Cambodian pizza?). Officially it's illegal to sell it as a drug. Not that it matters. Cambodia has very little resembling rule of law.

It tastes like it smells. No surprises really. Order it "happy", "extra happy", or "extremely happy". It's sort of an expat hangout and it's down by the river so it's a good place to sit, watch and eavesdrop. Sit as far back from the street as possible to avoid the street urchins.

Also, the FCC (Foreign Correspondents Club) on the next block has excellent food, if tremendously overpriced by shoestringer standards. It's well worth it though if you're jonesing for a gin and tonic WITH ICE. A stealthy exit is recommended unless you actually want to take a cyclo home.

Installment #1 from our recent SEA trip. In no particular order, naturally.
