At Mezcalito, happy hour runs 5 to 6:30pm each day, Tuesday through Sunday. A few months ago I was walking by at the right time and decided to stop for a bite and libation.
The Mezcalito burger is $10, including skinny fries, on the happy hour menu. Cooked medium as ordered, the 1/3 pound patty of houseground beef was very juicy, undersalted, and more than good enough for the price. The slice of smoked Gouda cheese was unmelted in one half, and the tomato was tasteless at that point in the season. I especially liked the chewy potato bun over the ubiquitous brioche too many places use. It can best some of the $15 to $18 burgers in this town.
Plus my fancy cocktail at discount, Oaxaca’s Dead (mezcal, grapefruit, mint, prickly pear shrub, cava) was knocked down a couple bucks. The staff were attentive and very nice. A pleasant experience overall . . . good to know there's a value burger and fries within walking distance.
