Archetype in St. Helena offers "Social Hour" on Monday, Thursday and Friday 5pm to 7pm at the bar. As noted here, https://www.chowhound.com/post/happy-... , Chef Ryder Zetts left this spring to be a partner in Cook. My bartender at Archetype said that the new chef has been making changes as reflected in the current happy hour menu. Oddly, Archetype seems to be keeping the chef's identity under wraps.
The happy hour menu offers some variety. I particularly liked the rock cod ceviche served in Bibb lettuce cups, $7. The mild white flesh was still soft and not overcured. The bits of green olive introduced interesting herbal and briny notes.
The 5 oysters on the half shell, $10, were from Santa Barbara. Well-shucked, but a bit on the soft side at this point in the season.
From the BTG wine selection, 2015 Brocard Petit Chablis, $8, was anything but petite. Quite bold and large-scaled for the Chablis region, it overwhelmed the raw seafood selections. But I was pleased nonetheless to be able to order a glass from a good French producer at discount.
Social hour seemed to be popular with local industry folk, as I overheard lots of shop talk at the bar. The room is lovely and the bar food's good. This is a really nice happy hour.
