Wherever you are: Whatever happened to mini-mart mini pizzas? Not packaged in boxes, not "big brand name," just those delicious, tender 6-inch wheels of heaven, wrapped in a cellophane pouch. They have "pastry crusts" and come out of the microwave at the mini mart or at your home all gooey and cheesy; so delicious.
I can't find anything along those lines at any mini mart in Iowa City any more. I have been to, I think, every mini mart in town and NO DELICIOUS MINI PIZZAS WITH TENDER FLAKY PASTRY CRUSTS. My only remaining local possibility is the "Casey's General Store" in North Liberty and I'm sure they won't have them. I'm about ready to go on a country-crossing quest to Grinnell, Iowa, to see if the huge mini-mart there, where I used to buy such mini pizzas years and years ago, still has them.
These are exactly the kinds of mini pizzas that I think some vending machines in some places have (you know, the machines with the little plastic Automat-style sliding doors and Lazy Susan-style spinning selections).
Help me! Dear God, help me! I only want this specific, exact kind of pizza--please don't try to convince me that anything else is "good."
What is the world coming to if we gain the whole world yet lose our delicious mini pizzas?
