What happened to China Star in Fairfax?

Fellow hounds,

We were at China Star for dinner this week after several months and discovered to our horror that management and the kitchen staff has completely changed. We ordered our usual dishes: beef/turnip soup, Scallion fried fish, Gen Kwan's spicy beef and Dried Fried string beans. None of them were the same--the sichuan peppercorns were gone from the string beans; the beef had become a goopy brown sauce mess with bell peppers and other veggies; the soup had no seasoning and the turnips were huge and chunky unlike the thin slivers of the past; the scallion fried fish was mild at best and not spicy at all.

We sort of managed to glean from the server and the person at the counter that the restaurant has changed hands. When it changed hands in the past, they still kept up a good standard--unfortunately, that seems not to be the case this time.

Any chance they were just having a REALLY off day? Anyone else visited recently?

Would love some news of this from more regular visitors.
