$6.25 at the Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op and well-worth it. A moist and heavy loaf shot through with a variety of nutritious seeds, crunchy crust, and mouth-filling flavor. Excellent keeping quality too, pretty much unchanged after five days on the kitchen counter.

Our family spent many years living part-time in the small Tyrolean village of Brixlegg, Austria. While there, we ate this high fiber, healthy bread practically every day, either toasted and topped with butter and jam for breakfast, or as a lunch sandwich filled with local cheese and speck (smoked prosciutto). This recipe was generously shared with us by its namesake creator, baker Hannes Sigwart.
