Hancock Tavern- Quincy- new place!

lysander | Apr 21, 2005 04:07 PM

the old Wells bar on Hancock Street right at the corner of Beale and Hancock in the Wollaston section of Quincy has mercifully changed hands and is now called Hancock Tavern. Wandered in there over the weekend, and what a transformation! the whole place has been gutted; new open, bright windows (incl. 2 skylights- nice touch from what was a dark dank bar before); pretty tin ceilings; good on tap choices. The food was top notch 'bar' food. I haven't had a piece of fried chicken in 6 years, as I am extremely fussy (I don't even like Rouge's that much), but theirs was unbelievably delicious. It seemed like a nice, clean, good solid place to hang out and get decent food for cheap prices.
