Halal Thai: 4th Avenue and Dean Street

My commute necessitates a transfer at Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street, and an uninterrupted wait in that miserable sweatbox is sometimes beyond bear. I was happy to see that a Halal Thai joint was opening up nearby, and couldn't wait to cram some of its food down my throat. What a fucking disappointment!

The palce shares space with a Halal pizza/fish and chips joint, an unlikely combination in a very low-rent storefront. The place was not air conditioned, and was, in fact, hotter than the above train station.

The appetizers were the usual suspects, and I didn't try any. I had the Pad Siew for $5.95. There was more cilantro than basil, and the basil failed to assert itself at all. The noodles hadn't been separated as the boiled, leaving me with a solid discus sauced only on the top. I also grabbed some Pad Prik King, which I admit an inexplicable fondness for. It was somewhat better, though that isn't saying much.

This place is new. I sincerely hope they refine their menu and improve their execution.
