BR and I went for a quick dinner last night to Hafez in our new 'hood (Yonge and Sheppard) as neither of us wanted to cook, eat the leftovers in the fridge or pay a lot for some mediocre delivery.

It was our 2nd time visiting Mr. Hafez. On our first visit we tried some of the Persian specialties, but last night we were both interested in his advertised "super delicious kabobs". We sat outside on the patio alongside some of the other customers (some of them seem to be regulars already even though he has only been open for a couple of months). We shared the dal and potatoes app (really tasty and well seasoned, with a kick of lemon - just the way I like it). It was a little more soupy than I thought it would be, but I'm not a persian cuisine connaisseur so I'll trust that the consistency was correct. This was served with some pita.

BR then had the mixed kabob plate (made up of a strip of steak and a strip of ground meat). On the side he chose half salad and half rice. The salad is simple but good with some small pieces of creamy feta cheese. The rice is topped with some saffron-infused pieces as well. The third side is half a BBQ'd tomato.

I had the chicken and ground beef kabob plate, with the same sides as BR. All three of the meats that we tasted were perfectly cooked and juicy and well seasoned.

The only downfall of the evening was when I looked down and our plates were empty :)

All this, plus a beer for $35.
