I'm trying to tell people in Denver, where I'm now living, about that great italian sandwich my mom uased to make for us. She was from Portland, ME and I know from experience, once you get too far outside Portland, the italian sub changes! These are the subs I remember getting in the deli as a young boy wrapped in wax paper with a rubber band.

Can anyone advise me on the 7 ingredients used to make it and about the bread/sub roll used to make this. I want to make sure I'm remembering correctly, All I can remember is Mom used to say the Nissen sub roll was the only one to make the sandwich right because of its texture and taste. Thanks!!!!
