Guatemala City: Patsy Pasteleria y Cafeteria - Like Denny’s … but mostly not as good

rworange | Jan 7, 201109:19 AM

This six restaurant chain does have some good features
- lots of low-cal and healthier choice options
- very good rice and good chicken
- price

The menu of the day is 34 quetzales ($4.25 USD) and includes soup, bread or tortillas, a choice of chicken, beef or pork, a choice of two sides, a choice of fresh juice or soda. Dinner for three was 164.75 quetzales (about $20.75) and included three entrees, bread, tortillas, soup, mango juice, three beers, a piece of cake and tip.

However, if Subway and Denny’s mated, the offspring would be Patsy.

It is not like I don’t understand the appeal of Patsy and its local popularity. I also understand the appeal of Denny’s grand slam breakfast. This is food in that league.

There are a few interesting menu options such as pineapple, mango and blackberry milkshakes.

The menu has photos of most of the dishes. I really have to give them credit. The photos on the menu are identical to what is served. With many photo menus, the actual dish never looks like the picture.

Order and pay at the counter. Get a number and a server brings the meal to the table. In addition to the large menu board, there are menus near the register. There's nothing on the menu that isn't on the menuboard, but there's a description and photo (for most) of the food.
