The Group Dining Challenge- Ideas?

Jacquie | Jun 1, 2005 01:46 PM

As the resident 'foodie' in my group of friends, I'm often asked to make reservations for celebratory dinners like birthdays, etc. This time, I'm helping to plan a 'girls night out/bachelorette' dinner for 8.

Now if this was MY party, I know where I'd want to go...but my standards for dining are pretty high and I'd happily pay any price for a good meal.

That said, this group poses some challenges.

- one vegatarian
- one person who doesn't eat anything remotely spicey
- a few 'frugal' diners who probably wouldn't spend more than $15 for an entree
- must be in a central location accessable by 'burbs but still close to a few good bars so we can get a couple of drinks afterwards.

The idea of eating anywhere near Govt Center in the summer seems like a bad idea (and a waste of money). I'd love to go somewhere fun, hip, with good cocktails, atmosphere but not too expensive- and will accommodate a group.

I'm stumped. Any ideas?
