This morning, Linda Wertheimer did a "Present at the Creation" segment about grits, a food I had no experience of until I moved to this area. I'm no expert. It seemed, however that the program was almost completely about ground corn, but not about hominy, which is lye-treated corn, with the hull and germ removed. I thought grits were cooked ground hominy, and cooked ground cornmeal was mush. What's the scoop on grits vs. mush?
