I've always been jealous of all the great Brooklyn and even Queens spots popping up. Finally...a find in my home borough - the Bronx! I just tried a grilled pizza on Eastchester Road in the North Bronx. The crust was fantastic - thin, tender, and well-charred. The ambiance was quite lounge-like. It's called Coals and it's only been open a few weeks - I hope it's there to stay.
I had the wild mushroom first. The combination of sharp cheese and delicately roasted mushrooms was good enough, but topped with fragrant truffle oil, it was heaven. I had to try another so I ordered a personal pie with aged provolone and fresh garlic - just delicious. They offer salads and our waitress mentioned panini coming soon. I'll be back to find out.
