Help me grill a wild caught Portugues octopus

Had out of town visitors who brought me a 3.5 lb whole octopus (wild caught from Portugal). I would love to grill in on Christmas Eve (doing a seven fishes meal). I can't tell if it's already been partially cooked or is raw.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to grill it and get that smokey char while ensuring tenderness. Want to do an EVOO and lemon juice drizzle and serve simply something like....
