1) we've got a taco truck! or a taco cart, rather. there's a fellow at the intersection of bedford and driggs who is there until about 6.30pm. in addition to generic baked goods and gyros, he has steak, chicken, cecina, lengua, and "mixed" tacos. i had cecina the other day (pretty good; served with onion/cilantro; meat cut too thickly for my taste but great green sauce) and will try the lengua next.
2) lots of work happening at the old shaghai lee space. a liquor license application is in the name of 645 manhattan restaurant, which isn't very descriptive. on the other hand, it looks like no work has been done at sakura 6, the japanese resto supposedly opening where the hardware store once was. grrr. i wasn't happy about a very useful store closing, and now that nothing appears to be happening with the new tenant i'm even more annoyed.
