Green St. criticism - bar menu

DoubleMan | Apr 6, 200801:46 PM

I understand I may take some heavy fire for this post, but I don't care.

For starters, I just want to say that I love Green St. I really love it. I go there at least once a week. I think Misty is one of the top 3 bartenders in the area, and easily my personal favorite. I really like the staff and I love the atmosphere of the place. As much as I go there, however, I rarely eat dinner there anymore.

Overall I think the food is fine. If it were 20% less expensive I would eat there more often. I think the current prices are definitely high for food that's inconsistent in execution and not that creative. Rendezvous and the Blue Room are just a tad more expensive, but I think have noticeably better food. The Garden at the Cellar has solid execution, and with Hungry Mother's arrival, there is a nearby spot with pretty impressive creativity. The Garden and Hungry Mother are both cheaper than Green St. Living in this city, I'm used to overpriced food (even if slightly overpriced), so it's not a huge deal.

My big gripe with Green St. is the lack of a bar menu. What I wouldn't give to get a burger with my cocktail. Just a handful of inexpensive options, that's all I'm asking - maybe something like Chez Henri. Even No. 9 Park and Radius have bar menus.

Green Street is almost always crowded, so there's no reason to indulge this poor sap. I would just love another reason to give them more money.
