Greektown and South Loop questions

Mugs | Jul 29, 200203:03 PM

1. Yesterday I had two hours between getting off Amtrak at Union Sta. and getting on Metra at LaSalle St. Sta. so I hit Roditys for its cold appetizer platter. The eggplant salad was good and sharp, but the tzatziki lacked garlic, and the taramosalata was bland. A fair-sized square of spanikopita sat in the middle. Which Greektown restaurant has the best cold appetizer platter?

2. The old Greek Islands location at 766 W. Jackson is now Kabab Corner, offering "100% Zahiba" (?) Pakistani, Middle Eastern, and Indian cuisine. The front awning says "KC Coffee Shop Restaurant." Cabs were in the parking lot. Has anyone tried Kabab Corner?

3. Good things have been said on this board about Bambacigno's (mostly) and Tokyo Lunch Box. How about other joints immediately west of LaSalle St. Sta., such as Frank's Chicago Shrimp House, Reggie's Pizza, and Pepper Sandwich Shop on the same block of Van Buren; Alcock's and other traders' taverns that serve food; and Spiro's next to Bambacigno's? And is that old railcar on the north side of Congress just east of Wells a restaurant again?
