Found: Great Thai Restaurant in Hampton, VA

The name of the place is Gah Bua Kham. It's located in a new strip mall on Executive Dr. and Hardy Cash.

Barely open for two months, but their food is fantastic. In particular, try the Nam Sod. It's ground pork sluiced with lime juice, green onion, and bits of fried garlic. The special thing about the dish is that they don't use the pre-ground pork you find at the market; they chop it themselves to make a consistency that is much coarser but far more interesting texturally.

The whole dish is served with scraps of lettuce leaf, so it's technically a salad. A salad that is awesome with rice.

The home cooking extends to dessert. In something called the Coconut Cluster Cake. Served chilled, and in bite sized diamonds, these are firm custard made with coconut milk. Delicious, refreshing, addictive -- the kind of stuff a mom would make.
